Looking after granddaughter
On September 19th, 2010, a typhoon hit southern Taiwan, causing some disaster damage; unfortunately, my youngest daughter was still living in her mother-in-law's house 3rd-floor; the bridal room is an additional building constructed with steel and tin panels. When the typhoon hit at night, the roof of the third floor was smashed by strong winds, and the whole roof flew away to 50 meters long and then fell onto the next house. Fortunately, no one was hurt, the night son-in-law worked the night shift, and my daughter had alertness; before the roof was torn and flew away, my daughter held 10-month-old granddaughter Amy down to the 2nd floor; otherwise, it would be hard to imagine what the consequences would be?
Then busy aftermaths had begun, it might take more than two months construction work, daughter's mother-in-law, Amy's grandma no time to looking after her, I called to daughter why not move back home temporarily? Both son-in-law and daughter promised; my wife and I were so exciting because Amy-my first grandchild, would come home, and we'll hug our granddaughter all day long, every day.
Two weeks later, we realized that looking after children was not as easy as your imagination, especially for curious and active toddlers like Amy. Most children at this age are the same; they have many things to do, learning talking, walking, and eating; you can't hug them all day long; you got to put them on the ground and just looking, watching, staring, and fallowing at them instead.
When she was ten months old, Amy was clever and cute, a curious and active age. She would get up at 5 or 6 every morning, then start taking, trying everything, electrical switches, faucets, drawers, refrigerators, computers, scooters, then taking car keys trying to open the car door. My eyes will not stop for a while, and you got to stare like a follower all day long. I had lots of electrical store work; her grandma and I got to pay attention all day to "handle" this little girl in turn. It's tiring after all day long; her grandma always let me strike her back slightly, before sleeping, because of back pain.
