Semi-fraud products
I left the Sanyo company and ran a self-employed Electrical Appliances Store for over 20 years. At an earlier time, an electric fan called "Ice Cool Fan" was famous. One was about 3,800 NT$ (about 600 NT$ for an electrical fan). The salesman claimed that adding water or ice would be cool, and you don't have to install an air-conditioner. I doubted they were practical, but I also booked three sets for sales. As expected, all three returned a few days later. Customers asked, [ Why it won't cool? ] I thought: [ If it's cool, air-conditioner factories would all go bankrupt!] This "ice fan" kind was outstanding sales at department stores or malls. Because the department stores are air-conditioning all day, switching on those fans will make feel cold, and customers will have the illusion, so they repurchased one, put Ice cubes in it, only have an effect within half an hour. Return it? You have to prepare the invoice, the original box, and you can't scratch it..., most customers think that it is too complicated, and they will admit that they are not practical.
At that time, the night market also often saw a TV antenna that claimed to be "high-sensitivity" with only one plastic "black box" plus two wires, one for 300 NT$. I once saw a customer who bought one, but the TV screen was still "snowflake" on it; I was curious to open it. It was only one printed circuit board, the copper foil only two circles then nothing anymore, the two wires connected to the ends of the copper foil. I guessed the TV screen was clear in the night market because it was outdoor and had better reception. Many people were being cheated.
They seem to be legitimate goods, they are also goods deliberately defrauded. "Semi-fraud products" have always existed, but there are more on the market today, eating, using, and wearing. In recent years, especially, package snacks. If you are not careful, you will get into the trap and think you are buying them cheaply. The snack wrap in a bulging shape, only one-half of the amount when opened; the other half is the air; the milk powder is only one in six of the amount; the biscuit deliberately uses the plastic box to pad out some space; it looks big, in fact Only half the amount. If it is a closed package, it could be a "stolen chicken" by the manufacturer. I have seen reporters ask why manufacturers want to pack this way? They said: to save for a long time, so it filled with nitrogen, those who produced snack before were all stupid?
